My parents are Marie (Villebrun) MacDonald and Ian MacDonald. Together, they raised me to hold strong connections to my mother’s British and Dené-Métis relatives as well as my father’s multi-generational Scottish–Canadian settler relatives. I am a member of the NWT Métis Nation, born and raised in Fort Smith, NT. As a Métis mother of three and nurse-scholar living on unceded Coast Salish homelands of the Lək̓ʷəŋən and WSÁNEĆ Nations, I am committed to upholding local Indigenous rights to self-determination in healthcare, Indigenist pedagogy, and decolonizing efforts within nursing. Inspired by incredible Indigenous nurse-mentors, I have recently completed a PhD in Nursing with a focus on intergenerational Indigenous nurse wellness and mentorship with/in community.
