Amber Smith (she/her) is a proud Métis woman, mother, educator and student. She was born and raised in Amiskwaciwâskahikan but now lives on and with a beautiful piece of land near New Sarepta, Alberta. Amber is a citizen of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government with familial roots in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and the Red River, Manitoba. Amber has a passion for Indigenous Education and re-imagining and transforming educational spaces to affirm the identity of Indigenous students. She works as a sessional instructor at the University of Alberta in Education, and Concordia University of Edmonton in Indigenous Studies. Her research centers around Auntie circles as sites of education, governance, and self-determination.
